Upgrade options
Overview of
Four Ways:
- Hosted
- One-Click
- Self Hosted
- Subversion
Ease of Installation – From easiest to hardest.
Ease of Upgrading – Hosted and Subversion is easiest with FTP hardest.
Customisability – FTP & Subversion
Hosted: Main Ones -> Edublogs and WordPress.com
One-Click: Main One: Dreamhost (Also pretty much does Hosted)
FTP: You now have Automatic Upgrading for plugins, and there is a Blog version too
Upgrade Tips:
- Do It Now!
- backup First
- Database and Files
- Check plugin and theme Compatibility
- Deactivate all plugins First
- Switch to Default Theme First
- Don’t kill wp-content
- Don’t forget to run upgrade.php
Subversion:
Lots of benefits
Version Control
